Any ideas?

This week has been one of those bitty sort of weeks but with ideas going into a bit of overdrive.  I made a soft owl for a friends birthday, with a little bag containing a monogrammed heart.  Unfortunately forgot to take a photo before I posted it!  I've sat and made more Christmas cards today. Oh and I've rediscovered some of my fabric scraps - always handy.

But the point of this post is to share some ideas and, hopefully, get you to share some of yours as well.  DH (dear hubby) got a dolce gusto coffee machine for Christmas.  It's one of those that uses pods. The end result (apart from a nice frothy coffee) is a lot of waste plastic pods.  The pods still have a bit of water in and, in some cases, coffee grounds so can't be recycled as they are.  I have been removing the film lid, any coffee, the foil seal on the bottom and the weird spiky filter thing in the base.  I'm now trying to think of what to do with them other than put them in the recycling bin.  Here are some ideas so far:

  • Wind chimes - string together with bells
  • 'Flowerpot' animals/people - they might work as the shape is similar, they just don't have a flat bottom
  • Germinating tree - possibly stacked similar to the idea with strawberry planters but for something like cress or been sprouts (okay I admit I am thinking of the budgies dinner here)
  • Garden art - might be able to make flowers somehow
So, any ideas?  If you have one of these machines please feel free to try out any of the above you might fancy and share your pictures. I'll let you know how I get on.

See you over on Handmade Harbour for the Handmade Monday sharing party.
